I have the honour to inform you that I have had
under consideration certain questions in connection with the posts
of Captain Superintendent of Police, Deputy Superintendent of
Police and Assistant Superintendent of Police.

By paragraph 8 of your Despatch No. 75 of the
9th. Harch last these officers, if on sterling rates, were granted
the duty allowances agreed to for Class I, Class II, and Class III
post respectively, although the grounds on which such allowances
were granted to officers of the Cadet service, as set out in my
Despatch No. 148 of the 29th. April, 1910, did not exist in their
case. I propose, therefore, as opportunity offers
and the vacancy
in the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police is such an opportuni-
-ty

to withdraw the privilege of free quarters which they have
hitherto enjoyed in order to place them in all respects on a
similar footing to Cadet Officers of the same classes. I understand
